Transition Networks Demonstrates New Smart Media Conversion Technology

Posted by on May 8th, 2012

A New Technology that Enables the Delivery of Alerts from the Network’s Physical Plant to Social Networks and Mobile Phones

Las Vegas, NV — May 8, 2012 — Transition Networks Inc., a worldwide leader in fiber networking and media conversion technology, a wholly owned subsidiary of Communications Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: JCS), today announced it will demonstrate its new patent-pending Smart Media Conversion™ technology at the Interop IT Conference and Expo.

This new technology is ideal for smaller or resource-constrained organizations. Smart Media Conversion™ technology offers users who are not currently managing their network devices the ability to receive some level of link status and alert notification with minimal administration. This allows the copper and fiber optic network infrastructure to deliver mobile alerts to IT administrators directly to their mobile devices, via social networking connections such as Twitter, Facebook or private clouds.

“By imparting intelligence to the physical plant itself, designated individuals could be advised of impending or actual network failures in real-time, on the devices they carry with them at all times – their cell phones or smart phones/devices.” said Curt Carlson, Product Manager at Transition Networks. “As people rely more and more on both their mobile devices and social networks for information – and as machines become smarter and more network-enabled, there is a growing need to deliver this information in easily accessible terms. With Transition Network’s new Smart Media Conversion™ technology, it is now possible to actually Friend Your Network™”.

Smart Media Conversion™ technology offers the potential to quickly deliver changes in link status and reduce expensive network outages by continuously monitoring the physical media for signs of deterioration. This will provide value to users by offering answers to questions such as, “How healthy is my network?” or, “Am I on the verge of a network failure?”

Alerting personnel of network anomalies—via the convenience of your mobile devices and social networks will allow you to take a preemptive and corrective action approach before network outages occur.

Technology Demonstration
Conference attendees are invited to bring their mobile devices with them and visit Transition Networks at Booth #727 in the Exhibitor Hall to experience a demonstration of the capabilities of Smart Media Conversion™ technology.
